Ursuline schools were founded in England between 1862 and 1904.
Sister came to England from Belgium at the invitation of Cardinal Wiseman. Others came from Germany when they were exiled and some came from France driven out by anticlerical laws.
All of them quickly set up schools with a desire to give young women opportunities for an education as demanding and enriching as their brothers.
